Biographical Note

Charles O. Emmerich, politician and civic leader, was born May 7, 1902, in McComb, Pike County, Mississippi, and died June 27, 1967, in Atlanta, Georgia. He originally came to Atlanta with the National Youth Administration (Regional Director 1942-1943); then was with the United States Civil Service (Regional Chief, 1944-1945; Deputy Regional Director, 1946-1948); was the Emory University business manager (1948-1960); chairman of the DeKalb County Commission (1960-1964); and held offices in several county, regional, and national university and governmental associations.
