The collection consists of correspondence, photographs, clippings, scrapbooks, printed material, and certificates. Correspondence is primarily with professional colleagues on behalf of the nursing school; photographs are of Ada Fort. Clippings, scrapbooks, printed material, and certificates relate to the history of the nursing school and its integration; to honors and awards received by Ada Fort; to her retirement; and to the Ada Fort Lectureship endowed at Emory in her honor.

Biographical Note
Ada Fort, Dean of Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing from 1950 to 1975, led the school through growth in enrollment, expansion of programs, and integration of the student body. She has received numerous awards and honorary degrees, won a fellowship from the National League of Nursing (1955), and was named Atlanta's Woman of the Year in the Professions (1970).
